Gua sha is a natural, alternative therapy that involves scraping your skin with a massage tool to improve your circulation. This ancient Chinese healing technique may offer a unique approach to better health, addressing issues like chronic pain. Gua sha is intended to address stagnant energy, called chi, in the body that practitioners believe may be responsible for inflammation. (Information from the Healthline.com article about Gua Sha benefits and Side Effects.)
The newest trend, however, is a Gua Sha facial, which has a smaller scraping tool with a special shape and generally made of jadeite or other crystal. This simple, at-home scraping massage improves skin texture, circulation and reduces puffiness. In addition, Gua Sha is an inexpensive and effective way to have a “facelift” and reduce wrinkles when used regularly.
Before doing the massage I clean my face, remove makeup and apply a generous amount of some high-quality facial oil, so it would be easier to use the Gua Sha tool. I often use Max & Me facial oil cleanser to clean my face and do the massage at the same time. I use the technique as shown in the picture and video below:

Use light to medium pressure when doing the massage.
I use the Gua Sha tool 2x per week around 2-5 minutes at a time, but I’m trying to make this as a part of my everyday beauty routine to get better results. After the massage, my skin feels great. I use it for reducing acne scars and for overall blood circulation improvement.
You can order it from amazon.com, there are different shape and sizes, choose whatever you like!
Please do not forget that eating healthy, getting some sun, exercising and lowering stress is crucial for our external beauty and inner well-being. Massages and facials alone do not give you the best results.
